Each new version requires full reinstall?

Are there any plans to simplify the updating process (like the one Chrome uses), where all you have to do is just restart the program to install the update? I am getting sort of tired of having to go through the full re-install process each time a new version comes out.

Hello and welcome to MBAM forum, edawebdesign: :)

Until an MBAM staffer comes along with a more "official" explanation....

MBAM is a security application, not a browser. :)
So, updating is rather different than it would be for a browser update.

Also, one can update MBAM from within the program quite easily, if one has configured the updater options to automatically check for (+/- install) any new program updates (see attached screen shot).
This will require SOME minimal user interaction, in the form of restarting the computer.
However, this is typical/universal and necessary for any/all of the major security programs and anti-virus applications. :)

Finally, MBAM program updates are only released a few times a year.
So, it's really not a big deal. :)

PS Is this a business/work computer??

I use it for home and business use. I think what I am asking for is a way for the update process to not require any interaction on my part, like a silent installer (no clicking through the license agreement, which I have already accepted about 8 times) that runs in the background and then prompts to reboot once it is finished.

Hello:

Thanks for the additional information.

Since this is a business computer, then I would suggest that you please contact the corporate support folks, as it's actually a violation of the EULA to use the MBAM consumer version on business/retail/commercial machines. :(

They will be happy to assist you further with this. :)
There may be a way to configure the corporate version to do what you are asking.
AFAIK, though, a major program update (which only occurs a few times a year) will always require at least a system restart, as is the necessary norm for any AV or major security application. (I think the d/l and install itself can be configured to occur silently.)

Please contact corporate support HERE.
Please make sure you have malwarebytes.org and salesforce.com in your Safe Sender list in your email program.

In order to assist you better please provide the following information when contacting them:

Cleverbridge Order Reference Number:

Most security software runs in kernel mode so it's almost impossible to update without a reboot as the kernel driver is using Windows resources that can only be restarted with a reboot as many programs are using them including Windows. Same reason why some updates require a reboot. It's not the same as a browser which is an entirely different area of software.

Computer Specs given when asked.

Even for the consumer Pro version, it would be great to be able to set the updater to update the program on Saturday at 2:00 AM if an update is available. This way the progrtam updates when no one is using the computer and the user simply restarts the system the next morning.
