It's possible (though unlikely since it's the only one listed) that this file has an Alternate Data Stream file attached to it or that it has destructive commands within it.

Please open the file with Notepad and see if anything is in it. Most 2000/XP systems do not have anything in this file.

Hi,
I came up with the same thing and debated whether to quarantine or not. I did and wonder if I did the wrong thing. The computer is running very slow; but it is still running. Should I remove this from quarantine?

[indent]Probably is a FP, though unlikely that your system is affected with or without this file. If you restore it and look at it, you will probably find its size to be zero bytes, meaning a blank file anyways. If the system is slow it is more than likely due to some other issue on the system.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that it is empty. 0 bytes.

Well that sure did not work the way I intended .

Its gone for now , next app version should have it back but without the FP .

That was fixed extremely quick, thank you Nosirrah.

Updated and ran quick scan again and "AUTOEXEC.BAT" is gone.

So the restore button doesn't mean anything...

I did go ahead and restore the file, updated MBAM and ran into some problems while doing the full scan. There was a problem with C:\$security (?) and I had a message to run CHKDSK which I did and a number of issues were taken care. The dialogue ran so fast that I could barely read it. I then ran MBAM on the quick scan and nothing showed up.

Sounds good Kay. Running CHKDSK probably corrected a lot of issues and potential issues.
