My PC runs WIN 7 Home Premium, 2 gigs RAM. It runs fine until logoff or switch user. Then freezes during next logon, all the time. I've put in the exclusions in your "Common Questions, Issues and Solutions", but this did not fix the freeze problem. I wanted to rule out AVAST being the problen, so I uninstalled AVAST, installed AVIRA, put in the exclusions, but the freeze still occurs. If I disable MBAM with MSCONFIG and reboot, the problem goes away. GEEKS-TO-GO has concluded that MB Pro is incompatible with active virus scanning. Any help with be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to MBAM forum, Garysam43:
MBAM PRO should be just fine with either of those AVs. It is designed & tested to run alongside any of the major AVs in real-time.
A couple of things to consider:
1) Remnants of Avast! (and/or other AV or security programs) -- if there is an Avast! cleanup/removal tool, did you run it?
2) There is a sticky topic about freezes/crashes >>HERE<<.
3) I would probably next try a clean reinstall of MBAM, following the procedures below:
If not, then the experts will probably need a bit more info about your system in order to assist you further.

2) There is a sticky topic about freezes/crashes >>HERE<<.
3) I would probably next try a clean reinstall of MBAM, following the procedures below:
- If you are running MBAM PRO, please be sure you have your license ID and key available (sent via email at the time of online purchase, or in the box). (If you would like to retrieve this info from your Windows registry, let us know & we'll tell you how.)
- Download and run mbam-clean.exe from HERE.
- It will ask to restart your computer; please allow it to do so - this is very important!
- After the computer restarts, download the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE, then temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and run the installer. (Ignore all 'Recommended' or 'Sponsored' software which are prominently displayed on the mirror sites -- they are ads and MBAM does not have any association with them.)
- If you are using MBAM PRO, you will need to reactivate (register) the program using the license ID & key.
- Launch the MBAM program and (if you are using MBAM PRO) set the Protection and Registration.
- Then go to the UPDATE tab (if not done during installation) and check for updates.
- Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the system tray (if using the PRO version).
- Now set up any file exclusions, as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications, and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQs HERE, or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
If not, then the experts will probably need a bit more info about your system in order to assist you further.

That's great!
BTW, did you try any of the fixes I suggested, or did things just start working OK on their own?
(Just curious, so that we and others reading this topic can learn.)
Cheers!

Hi DaleDoc1,
I did EVERYTHING you suggested. CHKDSK: no errors; DEFRAG.BAT went into a DOS box infinite loop, so I ran your first parameter in the run box: C: drive was 1% fragmented at start: no errors found. I was only haing the freeze problem was MBAM was resident (PRO), and safe mode WIN7 would not permit activating that, in either MBAM or AVAST. Most of the other things had been tried by Geeks-To-Go, but I think having AVAST disabled while I tweaked MBAM exclusions may have done the trick. Thanks again.
