Hi;

I recently tried an additional security software "Prevx" to augment my system. I was surprised to know that I have a malware detected which is "ssm.exe" in my Local Settings/Temp. To check if the file is a malware or has detections other than Prevx I uploaded it to VirusTotal / Jotti.org and Filterbit. All three had detections on the file "ssm.exe". It was classified as a trojan or trojan dropper. Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and Avira had no detections for this files. I am attaching the image of the results of the independent scans for your perusal.

Can I email you a copy of the file for you to test it? How can I email you the file? Can I attach it here in the forum attachments? Avira instructs me to zip it and password protect it before I send it to them. In the meantime, I have placed the file under the "Blocked Files tab" of Comodo Firewall for security.

Please tel me what to do on this file :) .

Regards,

voltron :D

Hi;

The file I attached did not reflect all the results of the scans of VirusTotal Jotti and Filterbit. I am re-attaching a pdf file for your perusal of the said results. Pardon :) , this is the first time I attached a file in the forum.

Hi voltron :D

If you zip up the file you can upload as an attachment to your post.

I will examine the file and see if i need to add to the MBAM database.

Thanks in advance!

Hi;

Thank you. I will zip it and send it to you for testing. I will delete first the other attachments I have sent since I have no more space. I will attach it as instructed. The password for the .rar file is "infected".

Again, thanks for the reply.

Regards,

voltron :)

Hi;

Thank you for the reply. Surprisingly, Avira has answered my email regarding this ssm.exe. They said the "We could not find a virus or virulent components in the attachment you have sent us" :) . I also sent them a zip copy of the file in question. I do not know why they could not find anything whereas you, you have confirmed it as a Trojan.Agent. :) :)

I will also send you a file which was detected by VirusTotal/Jotti/Filterbit as malware. It was not detected by MBAM as a risk. I'll send it separately from this reply.

Thanks again. :)

Regards,

voltron :)
