As per instructions given in http://forums.malwar...l=&fromsearch=1 I started Combofix at 8 pm last evening and it was still running at 730 today.
Because I have to catch a flight I have had to abandon until I return in approx a fortnight.
So is it normal for Combofix to need so much time?

No, that's not normal. You should reply to your helper and let them know what happened and they will instruct you on what action to take.
