PC freezes during Malwarebytes (basic) Quick Scan but is Okay during Full Scan
I'm Using PC / XP with all recent updates.
Last month while updating basic Malwarebytes program, I must have accidentally clicked on the free trial.
Once the free trial 30 days ended I uninstalled the higher version and installed the basic version from CNet (immediately).
I ran the basic version using Full Scan immediately and it found a simple tracker (GameLabs) and removed it.
Today I ran the Quick Scan and it freezes the computer when it gets to Windows\system32\config32\config\default.rmbak.
I forced shutdown and restarted PC in 5 minutes. Ran Quick Scan and it freezes PC at the same location.
Quick Scan in Safe Mode runs okay and does not find anything.
Oh, after I uninstalled the trial version, I manually removed the Malwarebytes folder and before downloading and installing the basic version.
Should I uninstall the basic version and reinstall it?
I haven't been on the Internet with the PC since uninstalling the trial version and running it's updates (and AVG updates). I'm posting this from an iMac.
Thanks,
Paul

P.S.
Oh, I believe I picked up that GameLabs tracker from CNet website because I accidentally clicked on one of their MULTITUDE of Ads thinking it was to download your basic version.

Please do the following:
- Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
- It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
- After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
- Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
- Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
