Installed on XP Home SP3 at home.

Beta version found the following that the previous version did not.

Registry Keys Detected: 2
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{D9291F9E-7010-4D7A-8DF6-455DEEF8EF51} (PUP.LivingPlay) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{D9291F9E-7010-4D7A-8DF6-455DEEF8EF51} (PUP.LivingPlay) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Seems to run a lot faster which is great.

I have a totally infested machine at work that I'm going to try the beta on.
Will let you know how that goes.

Had previous version of ZA Free unistalled because of MB 1.60.0.1800 conflict. Unistalled MB and installed ZA Free 10.1.079 and then MB 1.60.1.1000 beta. So far looks good. Also running MSE.

Had an issue with installing ZA Free...it took 3 reboots for it to work properly. Don't know what that was about.

@captnlen
Tell us which anti-virus you have. also, then, temporarily disable your A-V and retry the mbam-setup

@captnlen

Stay with this topic here. Do not start any new one, please. I have closed the other one you had.
Your issue appears to be in downloading the latest definitions of MBAM.

again, please get and use the mbam-setup out of that zip file and use as your setup source.

I suggest when the setup is just finishing, (temporarily) uncheck the download updates. You can run Update later.

1) The zip file in our Beta forum is what you need really to work with. The link is at the very beginning of this topic.
2) Save the zip file to your system
3) Run this cleanup sequence (do not use Regedit or any other reg cleaner !)

Please follow this sequence for MBAM removal & re-install:
A) Go to Control Panel and Add-or-Remove programs ( for WIN XP.) For Vista / WIN7 use Programs and Features.
uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Exit Control Panel

B) Logoff and restart your computer

Get, save, and then run the utility at the following link
http://www.malwareby.../mbam-clean.exe

C)Logoff and restart your computer again.

D)Now, reinstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

E) To be even more thorough, logoff & restart XP.

F) Now start MBAM and do an Update run.

I posted in another thread on Saturday that this clean utility link doesn't seem to work. Captnlen above seems to be having the same problem with a bad link. I know you said it works for you, but something is blocking it for at least a couple of us.

If you want help, please stay with this topic. The link you quoted does work.
What browser did you use? I also need to know what firewall, anti-virus you have, and if any other security application is in live monitoring mode.
Download Security Check by screen317 and save it to your Desktop: here or here
  • Run Security Check
  • Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the command window.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; close Notepad. We will need this log, too, so remember where you've saved it!
Posted Image If one of your security applications (e.g., third-party firewall) requests permission for access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Post a copy of Checkup.txt

Got the MBAM in. the uninstall didn't work but guess I cleaned out enough manually so rebooting and running worked.
But MSE went away. would not open or update. said had an error so I uninstalled it and reinstalled with a reboot between and now have both up and running.

Seems the old box is humming again and what do I need with a new one which I bought. Just got worn out fighting this one
and at 71 well this one is 10 years old so will now have a new 6 core CPU, 8 GB ram, 1 GB video,2TB hard drive Box too. No idea what I am going to do with two. <BG>

Thanks for the help Wish I had found you 4 days ago. Would be $700 richer

Kudos to you. I too wish we had conferred earlier. You are most welcome. and $ 700 for that configuration is a great bargain.
Glad it worked out for you.

btw, I have a really old system out 13 years old (needs some revival) but never had issue with.
'Tis a mystery why MSE "disappeared".

Have a good week,captlen

Download and run mbam-clean.exe from >> here <<

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus
If you need how-to guidance, see How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Next Download & SAVE the latest beta version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from >> here <<

Extract the contents of the Zip file to your Desktop. Then run it.

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration, if you have a license. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.

You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's >> >> here << or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Re-enable the anti-virus application that you turned off before.

Sorry, same IE error message box as before: "IE cannot download...was not able to open...site is either unavailable or canot be found".

Strange. Obvioulsy I accessed Screen317's test and I tried a couple of other links to different software to download and they worked o.k. for me, so it's not like all downloads are blocked, just this clean utility link.

Do you have another browser you can use?
Also, see if it helps if you disable your anti-virus (for the time being)

The link works fine, I've used it 3 times today.

Also, see my previous reply (just now ahead of your last one).
