PC Cleaner Pro - Removal

I have received quite a few complaints that Malwarebytes does not remove PC Cleaner Pro

We do not target the program because it does not meet the criteria to be targeted as adware, malware, or rogue (though some may beg to differ)

I'm not sure why people are having trouble removing it though. I was able to remove it via Add/Remove on XP and Programs on Windows 7 without much problem.

It did leave a few files behind and it launches your browser to their page offering you a special offer if you keep their program but you can close that page with no problem.

They do list their own uninstall page here - Uninstall PC Cleaner Pro

Searching on Google you also find quite a few fake tools that claim to remove PC Cleaner Pro but they're just foisting their program.

Sophos does list it as a Potentially unwanted application as well

PC Cleaner Pro rating at Sophos

I have created a small batch file converted to an executable that should remove the program automatically for you.

As with any program that does file removal and registy changes you should first make sure you have your data backed up.

I've tested the program on XP and Windows 7 x64 and it has removed it from these test systems with no issues.

Use at your own risk - this file is in no way supported by or sponsored by Malwarebytes and was created on my own free time.

Truely wish you would reconsider.

Accidently loaded this program assuming I was on a Microsoft site that helped fix video extension issues.

Spybot went nuts, but could not stop the download.

CCleaner picked up nothing & their UnInstall function uses PC Cleaner Pro's own uninstall tool.... which does NOT work!

Ditto for MS Utilities uninstall.........

Trend Micro Titanium picks up nothing :angry2:

Unlike the PCCPro uninstall screen that you show, the one that shows on my screen lacks a major portion of the lower half of the screen, most importantly, the "Uninstall" button on the bottom right & Cancel button on left! They just aren't there! Once it pops up on your screen it is there til you hot key out of it.

I have spent 4 hours attempting to remove this sinister bit of crapola.

I have tried to go back to 3 different Restore Points. None of them will work. I get a message saying "System Restore didn't complete. File or Directory is corrupted & unreadable 0x80070570."

My machine is randomly freezing or processes are taking forever.

I am going to try your batch file. Can't hurt!!

Will let you know how it comes out!

Yes I hear your frustration but they're legal so we can't really target them. If you have a download link for a different version I can try to install that version and test it out and create a specific uninstall for it, or even possibly review it for adware that we could target. The link from their site though does allow you to easily remove it from the uninstall applet.

[edit]

Okay, well glad that worked out for you then I see - cheers, you're welcome[edit]

No it does not. That is a false positive from McAfee. These antivirus programs are detecting it due to the packer that I used when I wrote it. It's just a compiled and encrypted batch file used to remove that software. However that is very old software and this tool is very old and unlikely to be the exact same version on your system that it was designed to remove.

Disable McAfee or tell McAfee that's it's okay to run it and it will run and it is not a Trojan.

I'm sure it's the same issue Marieli - the users antivirus is probably blocking the tool.

Hard to believe this is the exact same program though. This was written 2 years ago.

Here is the batch file contents. You could easily have FRST do the same thing for you as well. I simply made it a self executing file to make it easier for home users to run is all.
