infected with siref trojansiref
Posted 20 June 2012 - 07:18 AM
I think my computer has been infected with the siref trojan. The message "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute. Please save your work now." appears and the computer shuts down shortly afterwards, only to reboot itself and start the cycle once more.
In the one minute I have before it shuts down I have been able to access Microsoft Security Essentials and see what threats have been detected. This is where it mentions the siref trojan.
I am operating on the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.
I have tried to boot in safe mode but the same thing happens.
Please can anyone help? Please bear in mind I have only 1 minute to do anything once I have booted up before it shuts down. Please also bear in mind I am not very technical and I have never had to deal with this type of threat before.
Thank you in advance.
