Protection and or error code 1073 issue

Hi... new user with a paid-up licence, love the program it got me out of the crap a while back.

Current problem - after re-installing (I was unable to connect to the update server, and auto updates were also failing) my updates are working (manually at least).

However, on the protection page I get the option to 'start protection' which I guess means it isn't running. I click to start and get the message "protection already running"

At the same time I get an error code window with the following message "[create service] Failed to perform the desired action. Error code 1073."

Clicking OK on both, back to the MBAM protection tab and looks like it isn't running (option = "start protection" is showing).

Help please :)
