A minor issue

I noticed that this version does not show the date of the last update when hovering over the tray icon.

I find this very useful for a quick check of the update status. Any chance of putting it back again?

The same protection module issue occurred on my W7 x 64 computer with Microsoft Security Essentials Pre-release 4.1.509.0I

Installed Malwarebytes 1.65.0.1300 over the top of 1.62.0.1300 Pro. After first reboot, Malwarebytes tray icon failed to appear, but I checked the Protection log and it said that Protection had started successfully.

On second reboot, the tray icon appeared. and all is well.

I guess that's happening because MBAM now starts quicker?

It's not a problem, just thought I'd mention it as it only started happening since I tried the new betas.

Thanks very much for the detailed explanation re both my queries. Much appreciated.

Phil

Yes, that's correct. I've actually put in a suggestion to the devlopers that we consider a default recovery option for failed scheduled updates so that they attempt to run a gain a few minutes after a failure (but only once, so that if there is a problem unrelated to the boot timing, it won't constantly be trying to update and failing over and over again). That feature, if approved, won't make it into 1.65, but hopefully will make it into Malwarebytes Anti-Malware at some point in a future release.

Thanks for testing and thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated :).

We changed this because we felt the hover tooltip was too large and contained too much info. I will ask the team to consider adding back the time of the database release, but it won't make it into 1.65.

I have just realised (duh) that the database version number format appears to be yyyy.mm.dd.nn, so the date is easily determined anyway.

Exactly. I have a full explanation of the database format here.

+1 for adding it back. :)

Even with the "extra" info in 1.62, the hover tooltip is no larger than that for KIS.
And, even though the database versions are date-stamped, I, for one, like the added timestamp info.

JMHO :)

dds.txt, attach.txt and CheckResults.txt are in the attachment (hope it's ok).

Seems i am not allowed to post attachments in this section of the Forum, please download the zip file from:
http://digilander.li...mmer_40/dds.zip

- No user accounts are set on my system, i am the unique Admin/User with full privileges.
- Sorry, i do not have any previous version log, since i did delete everything before run the fresh install of the latest beta.
- My IE version is 8, not 7 as mistakenly reported in my previous post.

Thanks!

Update:

Just noticed that the 1.65.0.1300 install does create an empty Malwarebytes folder in the root of the system drive (C:\ )

Hello Whiteshark,

It seems your Terminal Services within your services (local) is set to disabled.

To fix this:
  • Click Start
  • Click Run
  • Type Services.msc
  • Click OK
  • Navigate to then right click on Terminal Services
  • Click Properties
  • Modify "Startup type:" and set it to 'Manual'
  • Click Apply then OK.
  • Restart the system.

After setting Terminal Services and rebooting your system, please let me know if this fixes the issue you are experiencing.

Thank you very much.

Yes Mainard, that was the problem ! Enabling the Terminal Services everything does work flawlessly.
My habit is to disable any unneeded service, to save system resources and to improve the system security.

Thank you! :)
