Upgrade to 1.64 causes no icon in tray and no protection

Recommended Posts

I upgraded from 1.62 to 1.64. Rebooted and no icon tray. I clicked the deskton icon and could not set protection on. Rebooted twice more and still did not work. Reinstalled 1.62 and it worked fine. Then downloaded the malwarebytes 'clean' utility, ran it and reinstalled 1.64 from scratch and activated. Rebooted. No change. Rebooted again. No change. Task Manager shows Mbamservice and Mbamscheduler. Please advise. Thanks,

In most cases a reboot alone will fix the issue.

Well, as I mentioned in my post, I rebooted twice with no results. I have since submitted this to customer support and am working with a technician there. I did notice that another person had posted in a different thread with what appears to be the same problem.... no icon and no protection. When this gets resolved via tech support, I'll post the solution I received.

Thank you but depending on what the issue is you should not post it. If there is a fix specific to your system then giving others the same advice may cause problems on their computer.

We've already posted generic advise that in most cases should correct the issue for most users.

Please follow the advice of the support person assisting you on the help desk.

For others reading this post the following generic advice should work for most customers.

Initially just reboot the computer. If that does not work then launch the program. Open the protection tab and if they're not enabled make sure you have "Start protection module with Windows" checked and both protection modules enabled. On slower computers you may need to wait up to 10 seconds or more after clicking each of the modules until it loads, please be patient as it is a live change not just a check mark.

Then reboot the computer again and it should come up okay.
