I contracted a virus yesterday, it slipped past my anti-viral software, I've tried and tried to run Malwarebytes and it just will not run; nothing happens when I click on it. I uninstalled and reinstalled it (fortunately I had the install file in a folder on my desktop, I did have to rename it, but it did install) and still nothing, I double-click on it and nothing happens. I cannot connect to the internet to download anything and I cannot copy any of my files. I tried putting Hijack This on a flash drive (using my husband's computer) and my computer will not read the flash drive, nor will it read the CD drive. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.

Thank you, I did read "I'm infected--What do I do now?" (Thus my "yes I'm infected") before I posted and I've done everything I can do; as I already said I can't connect to the internet to download Hijack this and my computer will not read a flash or CD drive so I can't transfer it from another computer.

And just in case it's not clear, I'm using my husband's desktop computer to post right now, my laptop is what's infected.

All reading,

I agree with Anne, there is something preventing the MalwareBytes' .EXE from running I have tried to do <_< this in network safe mode and was able to download the software but unable to run it ... I suspect a registry entry but which one!!!!!!

Okay, I was able to put Hijack This on a camera memory card through a card reader and I was able to get my laptop computer to read the card reader, but my computer will not run Hijack This, I double-click on it and nothing happens. I tried renaming it and nothing.

Whatever it is it is a bugger to kill it <_< ; it also disables the task manager and regedit so watch out it also seems to morph  , I have spent 72 hours trying to kill it....

??? I don't have a log to post! I can't get Hijack This or Malwarebytes to run! And the description on this forum says
"Please post any problems related to Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in this forum." Not being able to run it is a problem. If I had a log to post I would post it in the other forum.

If you really want me to start a new thread over there, I will, kind of doesn't seem like the right place for it, though...

Hi Anne,

The issue is that you will more than likely need to run some other tools and if you do that here in this forum you will get all kinds of people that try to help but don't really understand so then you're left with all types of responses and not sure what to do. In the other forum only you and the Helper are allowed to post and other unwanted posts are moved or deleted.

Thank you.
