To be more specific, the ComboFix icon is now on my desktop. When I double click it, the Open File - Security Warning screen opens stating "The public could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?". I click "Run" and nothing happens. This seems similar to when I click on the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware icon on my desktop as well as the Spybot S&D icon. Nothing launches.
Please let me know your thoughts and how I should proceed. Thanks.

My sincere apologies for the multiple posts. I was now successful in running ComboFix from the desktop (by renaming the icon).
Per your instructions, I am now copying my C:\ComboFix.txt log and my new HijackThis log. Once again, thanks for your help and please advise how I should proceed. Thanks.
Below is my C:\ComboFix.txt log:

Well the logs look good. As for using AVG it is running according to the logs, but if you have some portion disabled then yes re-enable it and check for updates and do a system scan with it.
Unless there is some other sign of an infection you should be clean now.
Please run the following to remove any tools that might have been used during the scaning and cleaning of your system.
STEP 1
Uninstall ComboFix.exe
STEP 2
Uninstall GMER
Click on START - RUN and type in or copy/paste %windir%\gmer_uninstall.cmd to remove GMER.
STEP 3
Uninstall other tools
Please Download OTMoveIt3 by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
If needed:Download and Update Java Runtime
The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 12.
Great, all looks good now.
I'll close your post soon so that other don't post into it and leave you with this information and suggestions.
So how did I get infected in the first place?
At this time your system appears to be clean. Nothing else in the logs indicates that you are still infected.
Now that you appear to be clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
Disable and Enable System Restore-WINDOWS XP
This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:
Turn off System Restore
Here are some free programs I recommend that could help you improve your computer's security.

by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your own local computer.

The security suite can then be reinstalled afterwards.
The windows firewall is not sufficient to protect your system. It doesn't monitor outgoing traffic and this is a must.

Thank you so much for all of your help. My system seems to be running great.
Quick question - can I restore my former settings for Spybot S&D (enable Tea Timer), or must that remain off?
