I have been hit with the MS Juan trojan. I am in desperate need of help to remove this little goodie which by now I think everyone is familiar with how it appears (Malware.Trace and Trojan.Vundo) and disappears with Malwarebytes but is really still lurking. Below I am including a mbam log after a quick scan (prior to telling Malwarebytes to fix the problem) and a hjt log. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I see you are running Teatimer.
I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system.
When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.
How to disable TeaTimer <== click me for instructions.

Then,

Please update your MalwareBytes Antimalware first and perform a new scan with it.
Then, select what it has found in order to delete it, because in above scan, I see you didn't take any action.

Then reboot.
After reboot, post the new log from MBAM together with a new HijackThislog, then we'll start from there.

Hi,

Just some leftovers, so...

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: Yahoo! Toolbar Helper - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [modifetisa] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\fatopoze.dll",s (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\Run: [modifetisa] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\fatopoze.dll",s (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: ojdgki.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32\fubuveva.dll lmzsaw.dll c:\windows\system32\nadojizu.dll hukjtd.dll ,

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

Hi,

Okay, I followed your instructions with HJT and then ran a quick scan with Malwarebytes and the same two entries popped up ( Trace and Vundo
So they appeared again after our previous set of instructions? If that's the case, then there's probably still something lurking there.
If so, * Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.

Hi,

Well, this looks OK again. :D

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

LOL! :D

Glad I could help. :D

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.
Extra note: Make sure your programs are up to date - because older versions may contain Security Leaks. To find out what programs need to be updated, please run the Secunia Software Inspector Scan.

Happy Surfing again!
