Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted June 11, 2013 Root Admin ID:689746 Share Posted June 11, 2013 Well that says the installer service is not even running. Which would certainly cause other issues as well for installs.I think you should run the following again so that we can get another look at your system. Please run the following scanner and send back the logs.Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktopdds.scrdds.com Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware ProgramsOnce downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed. Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool.Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.A black DOS console should open and run for a moment. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:DDS.txtAttach.txtSave both reports to your desktopPlease include the following logs in your next reply: DDS.txt and Attach.txtYou can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file in most cases.Next, Please download MiniToolBox save it to your desktop and run it.Checkmark the following check-boxes:Flush DNSReport IE Proxy SettingsReset IE Proxy SettingsReport FF Proxy SettingsReset FF Proxy SettingsList content of HostsList IP configurationList Winsock EntriesList last 10 Event Viewer logList Installed ProgramsList DevicesList Users, Partitions and Memory size.List Minidump FilesClick Go and post the result (Result.txt). Firefox Posted June 27, 2013 ID:696159 Share Posted June 27, 2013 I was referring to the steps in Post #41 from David => HERE <= Perhaps if you feel that the instructions are a bit hard to follow, maybe you can get one of your friends or neighbors that may be a little more technical savvy to help you out with the instructions.... avon4u Posted June 27, 2013 Author ID:696238 Share Posted June 27, 2013 I did download TrayApp.MSI File on to the C drive again. Am I suppose to do anything once it is on C drive? David H. Lipman Posted June 28, 2013 ID:696416 Share Posted June 28, 2013 Go back to post #47 In that post, and previous posts, I wrote I wanted the MSI file contained in the ZIP file in post #38 to be extracted to the root of drive "C:" as in C:\trayapp.msi . Let me make an allegorical comparison. Carla wants to use your hairbrush. She says she she will come by at 7:PM and asks that you leave the hairbrush on the kitchen table. However, the hair brush is in your pocketbook. Carla will NOT be able to pick up the hair brush at 7:PM unless you take the hairbrush out of the pocketbook and place it on the kitchen table when she arrives at 7:PM. Carla is synonymous to the Installer Dialogue requesting trayapp.msi where trayapp.msi is the hairbrush and the pocketbook is the ZIP file. As long as the hairbrush remains in the pocketbook and not placed on the kitchen table prior to 7:PM, Carla will be unable to find the hairbrush to use it. As long as the file trayapp.msi file is not extracted from the ZIP file to the root of drive "C:" { C:\trayapp.msi }, then the Installer Dialogue requesting trayapp.msi will be unable to use the file when it requests it via the pop-up you've seen. avon4u Posted June 28, 2013 Author ID:696657 Share Posted June 28, 2013 Your last message was way too confusing. Why are you referring to #47 & 38 which I have already done! When I click on use source Browse, I get Open window I go to My computer click on C:\ File Name: TrayAppFile Type: Installation Package (*.MSI) How to you unzip the file? I also, click on my computer then to HP Pavillion C: Found 2 listed: TrayApp - click on this & new window pops up. Click on the 1st on & window closes.TrayApp.msi - click on this & new window pops up. Click on the 2nd on & window closes. David H. Lipman Posted June 28, 2013 ID:696666 Share Posted June 28, 2013 I am still NOT getting the kind of responses back from you so I know what your exact problem is in trying to implement a resolution. Go to; Control Panel --> Folder options --> View "Uncheck" the box next to "Hide extension of known file types" Then click on the button near the top "Apply to Folders" Then I want you to go to "My Computer" and Double-Click on the "C:" drive. Then I want you to capture the screen showing what Files and Folders are in "C:" as you see below... ( Note: This is from a Vista PC and the screen has been censored and will not be what you see )
avon4u Posted June 28, 2013 Author ID:696723 Share Posted June 28, 2013 Click on Control Panel - Folder Options - viewUncheck the box - Hide extension of known types I post on paint 5 screenshot images! David H. Lipman Posted June 28, 2013 ID:696739 Share Posted June 28, 2013 As I thought, the file trayapp.msi is not located in the root of "C:" as requested. Therefore your statement below is not correct and why you have been repeatedly requested to go back to those previous instructional posts."Why are you referring to #47 & 38 which I have already done!" You have two ZIP files trayapp.msi.zip and trayapp.zip there instead. The file trayapp.msi must be copied or moved out of trayapp.zip and placed in the root of drive "C:" so the Installer Process that requests it can find it. I want you to Double-Click on C:\trayapp.zip and make the view a windowI want you to Double-Click on "My Computer" and make the view a window Now arrange those two windows, as below, to be shown Side-by-Side as I have done below... Now Drag & Drop the file trayapp.msi in the Right-Window (as shown above) on top of the "C:" drive shown in the Left-Window In the Left-Window "My Computer" view, Double-Click on the "C:" drive. Here is what I see when I "extracted" the file trayapp.msi to the root of my "C:" drive and compare that to the same view in Post #68( Here the file trayapp.msi is present, in the graphic in Post #68, before extraction, it is not present ) Now compare that to what you see for the Files and Folders of YOUR "C:" drive. You should see trayapp.msi as you see in my above graphic.
avon4u Posted June 29, 2013 Author ID:696802 Share Posted June 29, 2013 I am trying to drag the TrayApp.MSI, but it refuse to go there. David H. Lipman Posted June 29, 2013 ID:696807 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Right-Click on the file, Choose "Copy". In the "My Computer" view, Double-Click on the "C:" drive. Right-Click, Choose "Paste".

David H. Lipman Posted June 29, 2013 ID:697011 Share Posted June 29, 2013 In Post #41 I stated "That means no short blurb answers" Your reply was just a short blurb and is why "I am still NOT getting the kind of responses back from you so I know what your exact problem is in trying to implement a resolution." Please communicate. What did you get ? What did you do ?What happened or or what did you experience ? Have you then gone back to Post #41 and forced the condition where Installer Process requests trayapp.msi, as above, and actually gone through the process ?
