Hello - my personal PC has contracted some sort of virus and I'm hoping someone can help me because I have tried the usual methods and nothing seems to be working.

Here are the symptoms as I know them:

If I launch the computer in regular mode, it will freeze seconds after Windows completes loading. It won't allow me to click on any icon or the Start menu prior to freezing.

If I launch in safe mode, everything loads fine but MBAM will not run. Nor will any other anti-malware or anti-virus program. Additionally, System Restore will not complete because I come to a stage where I select a date and then I hit "next", but nothing happens.

Two days ago it was allowing me to launch in safe mode with networking, but google searches were being redirected. Last night, launching in safe mode with networking did not provide a working internet connection.

I'm really at a loss and this has become increasingly aggrevating. Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I also tried to follow directions in one posting that referenced disabling the TDSS.serv driver or something along those lines, but that driver did not show up in my hidden files.

I am only fairly knowledgable when it comes to computers, but I can follow directions well. Thank you.

If you cannot follow any of those steps, then please create a new topic in that forum explaining what happened when you tried to run each of the tools in the instructions, and the expert who helps you will be able to suggest steps to take to get the tools working.

I had to launch my PC in safe mode and it would not allow me internet access. I tried to run MBAM but it would not open, which has been the case. I therefore used a second computer to download HijackThis onto a USB key, which I then ran on my troubled PC in safe mode. The resulting log was as follows:
