Hi,
After the last MBAM upodate I got the message " certain information from your computer was sent to our servers" and I decided to uninstall MBAM from all my 3 computers.
This is a tipical malware behavior - collecting computer information without user's consent and is not acceptable from an Antimalware software.
The answer from MBAM developers was "Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this, we are working to resolve the issue."
so what issue are they talking about: the fact that MBAM is sending information from our computers to MBAM servers without our consent or the fact that by mistake we are aware about that now....
Sorry about that, but no more MBAM from now on....

From all that I've heard around here, all it "sends" is the license key so it can be blacklisted, thus preventing pirated keys from working. If you're a paid user then the helpdesk should be able to resolve it for you.
Hi,
that doesn't make sense; "all it "sends" is the license key so it can be blacklisted". Why would someone blacklist my license key?? If is piratted MBAM should already know and blacklist it without any information from my computer
And "all that I've heard around here" is not very assuring....

Well, I'm not a developer so I can't speak for them, but the way I understand it, since the update to 1.35, the installer itself detects "fraudulent" keys, but it seems to have issues (obviously) on some people's systems. I've seen reports that it displayed that error on some people's systems who were using the free version, which has no license key. I'm not sure why it's popping up, and for all I know it may be sending nothing at all, but again, I'm not one of the developers and we've been told that the best recourse for users who've seen this error message is for them to contact the helpdesk.

You left out the part where you got the message because you are using a pirated license. I see you finally got your hands on that keygen you were asking around for. Good thing we have a copy of it, and blacklisted the keys it generates.
It's pretty sad that, when our software is so inexpensive, and the licenses never need renewed, that you people still have to steal it.

This is also a typical scare tactic used by legitimate software to make would-be pirates think twice about trying another keygen.
Since this is only generated when MBAM is found to be using a pirated key that is in our ever-growing blacklist, then only pirates would have any cause to be worried.

No, the issue that we are working to resolve is how to break your keygen.

Good. Stop trying to pirate our software.

Claudiu,
We have evidence of you asking for a key generator on this very forum in the past. And to think we took you seriously. Using a blacklisted license key probably got you in this position. Sorry, but please move on your way, we can survive without a user that pirates our software.

Claudiu,
If you provide a cleverbridge reference number I will gladly drop this discussion and rip apart the code for hours to find any and all bugs related to this.

Hi,
I do not have any more the cleverbridge reference number , I can give you my ID and KEY ( but for sure you are going to say "is pirated") but why do not provide yourself a list with blacklisted keys so we can check and complain. Kaspersky has a list with blacklisted keys on their website.

You may want him to send you the e-mail address he ordered with as well.

NO! post first the list with ALL blacklisted keys and I will send my information after that. I want to avoid the situation in which you will say "is pirated" no matter what.

If you truly did pay for the software (which I highly doubt), then YOU can quite easily prove it by contacting Cleverbridge if you really have simply misplaced the order number (which by the by, is in the e-mail they send you when you pay for it).
Since we know for a fact that the only way to get the piracy message, is by err, pirating it (and myself, amongst many others, have verified this multiple times) - we all know you aren't going to do that. Instead, all you're going to do is bitch and moan because you got caught.

Enough from everyone. Claudiu, simply contact cleverbridge and ask for your reference number. The problem will then be solved.

I did not get that pirated message until today, and I had rebooted before today because I had installed windows updates.
I bought my copy of Malwarebytes' Anti-malware on 3/31/09. I received my cleverbridge reference number and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware license key via email.
Now I get the "You are using a pirated version"... etc etc on reboot.
Could my paid license key be on a blacklist as suggested??
I even opted for the extra cost to be able to download it online for 2 years, for total cost of
$30.90.
I am now awaiting help from helpdesk about how to get rid of the "pirated version" message.

The helpdesk will assist you in checking if the license key was blacklisted and we will reissue a new one if necessary

How or why could a paid license key end up on a blacklist, I should have been the only one to receive this key, correct?

I'm not too sure how keygens work seeing as I don't pirate software, but I imagine it would be possible for a keygen to have generated your key when somone pirated it, getting it blacklisted in the process. This would explain why some users are getting this message while there doesn't seem to be a bug in the software.

I have zero sympathy for those who use pirated software, they cause us all headaches, but I do have sympathy for those paying customers who become victims of this whole ridiculous cat and mouse game. Curing the disease by killing the patient is extremely effective if the overriding objective is to "win" in such silly battles but it seems like a very poor business strategy. I guess false positives in the war on piracy are an acceptable margin, unless of course you become a false positive.
