hey,

I'm new to this forum, so im sorry if this topic is in the wrong place.

I've got a problem with my laptop

ive got it running vista 32 bit,
cpu: amd athlon x2 dual core QL-62 2.00Ghz
mm: 3gb (ddr2 i think)
and after enyoing my laptop,
its started to lag at a lot of games all of a sudden.

examp.
(burnout paradise city, shaun white SB, Prince of Persia
but the most anoying is CoD 4)

really ackword.

problem:
wen i play a game all of a sudden i hear my van speed up. and my fps drops about 75%
this is on evry game!!(except old ones ofcourse)

I tried to google the problem but no succes so far.
when i read my taskmanager while the high cpu usage is goin
i see multiple proccesses who use cpu(doh)

-audiodg.exe +\- 10% cpu
-1 or more svchosts.exe (between 3 and 30% the 1 using 30% is usually bout 80.000kb
-explorer.exe
-dwm.exe
-system
-taskmgr

so i looks to me like its one of the svchost.exe
while googling i found a lot of svchost related problems and issues.
so i dont really know where the start.

I already tried the windows update service, windows driver foundation service, windows defender(uses 30%cpu sometimes for nothing).
with the "proces explorer" program still nothing
I only find a program always runnin, thats had been higlighted in brown (WmiPrvSe.exe), always using little amount of cpu

I hope some of u could help me with this issue.
if I need to put more info pls tell me and ill be as quick as possible
really bugging bout this bug.:s
Ty for taking the time to read this.

Greetings belgmeister and welcome :) .

Often times with laptops when CPU usage gets high and temperatures increase power settings can kick in that reduce system performance (especially if running off of a battery). Sometimes you can control this through the power settings. To access the power settings in Vista click on the Start Orb and type power and press enter. This should bring up the power settings menu. You can change the power profile used by the computer by default (generally set to something like energy saver or mobile or something similar for laptops) to the high performance setting when you're going to play a game. It will eat up more battery power, but you should get better performance when you game. You can switch it back to the previous power profile when you're not gaming to save on battery life.

If that doesn't help or you have questions, please let me know.

An additional note: If you want to see what's running behind those svchost processes just open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and click on Show processes from all users then right click on the process using the CPU and select "Go to services" and the one(s) running under that process will be highlighted in the list, just scroll down to see them all as sometimes more than one service runs under a single process.

If you do the full pcpitstop test and copy the link in the location bar, someone with more expertiese can look at your test, I use that often to troubleshoot slow computer issues.

You have to know what to ignore and what to focus on.

If you're having Malware related issues with your computer that you're unable to resolve.
  • Please do not post any logs in the General forum. We do not work on any logs posted in the General forum.
  • Please do not install any software or use any removal/scanning tool except for those you're requested to run by the Helper that will assist you.
  • Using these other tools often makes the cleanup task more difficult and time consuming.
  • If you have already submitted for assistance at one of the other support sites on the Internet then you should not post a new log here, you should stay working with the Helper from that site until the issue is resolved.
  • Do not assume you're clean because you don't see something in the logs. Please wait until the person assisting you provides feedback.
  • There are often many others that require asistance as well, so please be patient. If no one has responded within 48 hours then please go ahead and post a request for review
  • NOTE: If for some reason you're unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just proceed and post a NEW topic as shown in the second link describing your issues and someone will assist you as soon as they can.
