Hey guys -

I bought the protection level yesterday.
I have to manually start it after boot-up.

I use selective startup - there is an entry called MBAMgui, but no other entries.
I also use Trend Micro A/V.

I tried running malwarebytes export exe as advised in another thread so I could include a log, but that program will not run.

oops ! I never ticked "start with windows" silly me, I was wondering what that meant!
I thought it meant that when mbam opened, it would produce a window on my desktop.

All's fine - sorry to waste your time. Maybe it should be re-worded "start protection when windows starts" or something.
