For some reason my laptop has started acting up. I have Trend Micro Antivirus
and after performing a full scan last night, no results were found.
When I try to do homework on the internet, every link redirects me to the wrong site.
I cannot open or install malware bytes, spybot search and destroy or hijack this.
I've had a similar problem a few months ago but that trojan or virus somehow
altered my windows logon file. By doing this, whenever I started up the computer
and logged into XP I was immediatley booted out. Repeated tries ended the
same way even logging in under safe mode and adminstrator.
A friend of mine tried restoring the original log on file by copying it from a
clean XP OS. For some reason it did not work so instead he used another method
to trick my computer into being able to log in and out sucessfully. He told me not to use
Adaware software because it would delete the file that is being used to help me log on
by thinking it doesn't belong there.
I'm afraid to restart my computer in case the same thing happens and the virus somehow
modifies my log on file and keeps me locked out.
Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

I followed instructions here http://www.malwareby...showtopic=12709
but after getting rid of the UAC sys file I cannot reboot or shut down my computer.
When I click restart or shut down, the windows shut down screen appears for a moment and then
nothing happnens. I get sent back to my desktop.
