Hi,

So this is my old computer and i just want to clean it up as my backup. I am trying to remove AOL from this since it keeps popping up all the time and i cant seem to get rid of it. Also, i cant seem to get rid of some malware that has been coming back often.

I would like the following:

1. Removal of AOL. (i cant uninstall it for some reason)
2. Purge any Malware remaining
2. Remove older versions of Java. (i think there is a tool for this but i forget which. it removes the older versions but keeps the current version of Java)
4. Remove any other bad stuff you can find.

Replying to your own post makes it look like someone is already helping you. For others that come along and may read this post, please do not reply to your own post until someone is helping you. We look for 0 replies and then try to assist. If no one has replied to you within 48 hours then send a Private Message to anyone of the Moderators or other staff and they should respond to you.

Okay, so... since it's been a while please run the following and I'll take a look at it later tonight if I have time or tomorrow for you.


Update and Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

• Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Vista users must Right click and choose RunAs Admin)
  
• Please DO NOT run MBAM in Safe Mode unless requested to, you MUST run it in normal Windows mode.
  
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    
  • Select the Update tab
    
  • Click Update
• When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab
  
• Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
  • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Then post back the MBAM log and a new Hijackthis log.





[indent]Download DDS and save it to your desktop

Disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.
Then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, the DDS.txt will open.
Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.

When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:

• DDS.txt
  
• Attach.txt

• Save both reports to your desktop
  
• Please include the following logs in your next reply: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
