Hi, my computer's been infected with something for a couple of days. There's tons of pop-ups, and whatever is on my pc is also not allowing me to install any anti-spyware software (I've tried Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Spybot S&D, and others).

The files download fine, but when I try to open the .exe files I get one of two error messages: 1) "The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program.", or 2) "C:\xxxx is not a valid Win32 application."

I've tried installing the files in safe mode, renaming them when I save them to my pc and also after the .exe file has downloaded and before I attempt to install, tried restoring the computer to an earlier date...no success.

Below is the log file from Hijackthis. As mentioned above, I can't get Malewarebytes to install, hence no log file for that program. Thanks for any suggestions!

I forgot to mention...another symptom is that a number of different large websites won't open, including www.mlb.com, www.sears.com, and www.walmart.com. It's probably been about 5 days since this started, and none of these sites have opened for me. I'm sure they haven't all crashed for the past 5 days. Anyway, just forgot to mention this other little "perk" the virus or whatever has bestowed upon me.

This already looks like a game over situation, because you're most probably dealing with a File infector.

We can still try one thing though... but I suggest you back up your valuable data/documents/pictures/movies/songs/etc already.. Do NOT backup any applications/installers and Do NOT backup any .exe/.scr/.htm/.html/.xml/.zip/.rar files...
This because these files may be infected as well. If you back them up and replace them afterwards, it will infect your computer again.

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.

Thanks for the response. Sorry for the re-post...I replied to my first thread right after it was first posted, to add some additional info, and was not sure if my post would be found because it no longer had 0 replies.

I'll run the scan as soon as I'm able to backup some files. I don't have an external hd, but today I'm actually doing a desktop build so today or tomorrow should have another computer to transfer the files to. Is there any way the files I'm transferring could have become infected? I don't want to get this crap on my new computer. I'll just be transferring Word documents, music, and photos (all of which have been on the computer since before these problems started).

If it's safe to tranfer these files, as soon as I'm able to do that I'll run the scan and post the results.

Yes, that's possible, because I suspect you are dealing with a File infector here.
That's why, don't back up any .exe/.scr/.htm/.html/.xml/.zip/.rar files...
The rest is safe to transfer

So I did a desktop build yesterday, and today I downloaded MBAM from the new computer, saved it on a thumb drive, and opened the install file on the infected computer from the drive, without transferring it to the infected computer, and it installed and scanned perfectly.

To clarify...in the 2nd MBAM log, it says the 4 infected files were quarantined and deleted, but they still show up after reboot.

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.
