Is there a way or a simple program (hopefully) that will edit each process that starts up with Windows XP temporarily? By this I mean even internet connections, anti-virus, anti-spyware & the like....
The reason I ask is because I have an older computer that I like to play games on. I play against the computer (usually) and I want the computer to use those resourses towards the game rather than the other things that I am not using.
I tried making another user with the start-up, but that didn't get me anywhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Peace 2 all.

You could try typing msconfig into 'run' and selectively disabling anything you don't want running. What sort of games exactly are you playing?

There are a few ways to possibly do what you want, but to help we'd really need to know what you're running. The easiest way I could see to check would be for you to download Microsoft Sysinternals Autoruns and save it to your desktop.
To use Autoruns:
After I have a look at what AV etc that you use I can most likely advise you on how to accomplish what you ask. As far as network connections goes, you can do what I do, just create a shortcut to your connection on the desktop. To do so, click on Start and select Run and type or copy/paste the following exactly as written:
To use Autoruns:
- Double-click Autoruns.exe and accept the license agreement
- It will begin scanning your computer, just wait until it finishes
- Once it's finished scanning, click on File and select Save and save the Autoruns.arn file to your desktop
- Right-click the Autoruns.arn file you saved and highlight the Send to menu and select Compressed (zipped) Folder
- Attach the Autoruns.zip file you just created to your next post

RUNDLL32.EXE shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL ncpa.cplThat will open the Network Connections folder, just right click your network connection and click on Create Shortcut. When it asks if you want the shortcut created on your desktop click "Yes". Now you can easily right-click the shortcut you created and select Enable or Disable to turn your connection(s) on or off. If you disable your connection before shutting your computer down it will remain disabled when you boot up again so that will take care of that part.
