I had a client that picked up the "your machine is infected" type malware. She had Malwarebytes installed and when run it reported "No Malware" (so did Norton 360). When the machine was brought to me I loaded A Squared which detected 470 threats. 10 of which were "High Risk" and three of which it could not remove. These were:
C:\doc & set\All usr\app data\web ok five 01\win active.exe
C:\temp\bb_auto_wider.swf
C:\temp\bb_click_wider.swf
(I removed these manually - I love Bart CD)
Unfortunately because of her A Level revision panic I was unable to spend time reserching exactly what had been done to disable Malwarebytes I just thought you should know there is malware that specifically targets your product.
