I am struggling with some kind of virus that manifests with a "Google Installer failure" message all the time, redirect to wrong websites when using Google searches, seems to access websites but not show them (only only hear ther audio) and general slowness/crashing of computer.

Have downloaded Malwarebytes but can get it to start - just an hour glass for a few seconds that then goes away and nothing happens - probably the virus stopping it. Someone on another log suggested converting exe file to bat file, however, not that IT literate so unsure if I should do this and also how I would convert .exe file to .bat file if I am on Windows XP? Stupid question I'm sure.

Really starting to kill my computer now so any help much appreciated.
