Hi:
I am having dificulty with the scheduled update and quickscan not running.
I have:
uninstalled using add/remove programs-reboot
run the mbam-clean.exe-reboot
reinstalled (carefully entering information)-reboot
enabled and rescheduled tasks-reboot
I am finding that some machines do fine and others just don't want to run the scheduled tasks.
Suggestions appreciated.
stephen

Greetings Stephen
.
Please click on Start and click Run and type services.msc and make sure that the Task Scheduler service is running and that it is set to Automatic.

Hello Forum Diety!
Appreciate your reply. Wish it were that simple. My Task Scheduler service is running and set to Automatic. Other scheduled tasks, backups etc. are running fine.
Go figure!

Just dug a bit deeper and compared with my running scheduled tasks. I don't know why, but, "run only if logged on" was checked in the malwarebytes scheduled task. Unchecked it, added password and voila! It is running.

Hello again
.
Yes, that would've been my next step in troubleshooting
. MBAM does indeed set its scheduled tasks to only run if logged on and many have had to alter this as you did to correct issues with it
. I just wanted to start with the most common reason (as many users out there disable the Task Scheduler thinking they don't need it
). I'm glad you figured it out. If you need anything else (and perhaps next time you'll actually get an answer that's useful
) just let us know.
Good luck and safe surfing

Please keep an eye on it though. I think you will find over time that it will stop updating the definitions. It really does need to have a user logged on in order to operate properly.
The task needs to be set with Admin credentials but once that is done any user even a non Admin can be logged on for the updates to work.
This has been asked to change in newer version but not sure if it will or not.

So you are saying that what is working will degrade to not working i.e. a workstation with user logged out may not auto update or scan as scheduled?
Kind of puts you behind the curve if you have to check to see if auto tasks are working. The whole point is to let it happen without hand holding.

Hi -
I'm having the same issue. After I did a complete recovery on my system a few weeks ago, I reloaded Malwarebytes and set it up to update and scan daily at 10pm and 11pm. However, it hasn't done that. My taskscheduler is set to automatic as well.
I went to control panel - scheduled tasks - and the whole field is blank. So I went to the add task wizard, and found Malwarebytes, however, I'm not sure what to choose - once daily? When computer starts? How to differenciate between the update and the scan? I've never had to manually add a scheduled task, so I'm confused about this. Or maybe you're referring to something different than this?
My avira autoupdates, as does windows update, etc. So I'm a bit confused.
Thanks in advance !
