I recently did a reinstall of the OS on my computer, just after I installed PC tools firewall plus I've been having right click problems. When every I right click on a folder, the hour glass icon comes up and nothing happens. At the same time I can't click on anything else and have to manually shut down the computer. As it is shutting down, a window says the Explorer.exe is not responding. I'm wondering what the problem might be. Thanks for any info on this.

Well if PC tools firewall plus was the last thing you installed prior to this issue then I would at least temporarily uninstall it and see if the problem goes away or not.

If it does then you might want to do some scans for Malware to ensure they're not causing the program to lock up either.

Advanced Setup's advice might work, OR try using system restore to take your pc back to the day after you installed everything, if that is before you installed PC tools firewall plus.

You can do a System Restore but I really don't like doing those as they're not clean changes in time. Meaning that the files that PC Tools installed will still be there even if the registry entries are no longer there, etc. It's not like Ghost or similar programs where it is a full point in time switch.

System Restore only backs up certain files, it's not an entire drive snapshot in time.

After you do a couple of these you really start to get a screwed up system.

If the system restore does work, then he could delete the firewall later. Yea I know what you're talking about, whatever you uninstalled goes back to the way it was but except it doesn't work, which sometimes makes it harder to uninstall something, something you can't from the control panel, meaning the registry and the my computer.

In Theory the REGISTRY will be fully restored to a previous point in time, but NOT the file system. Only certain core files are restored back in time. The entire folder structure of the installed software would still remain on the system but without any Registry entries to make it work.

Well it is just about one of the only things he could try, worth a shot.
