Alrighty, I installed malewarebytes however the program will not load. I tried installing the other suggested program Trend Micro HijackThis this program will not install. The issuse which inspired me to install these programs in the first place was a fake program telling me i need to turn on my firewall and wanting to scan my comp. The program in winpc antivirus. the process name is winav.exe only small amout of relief from this annoying virus or whatever it is, is by ending the winav.exe in the task manager. I am pretty sure this program is what is preventing either of these two programs to install and run properly. I have searched for the winav.exe file and deleted any accociated files and then to my surprise they reappear when my comp is rebooted. Another symptom which is some what random, is when i open a new tab and or click a link it loads some other random site. this seems fairly common from my little bit of research. figured this was a good place to start my diging into fixing this problem. Any help will be greatly greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Please take a look at the following posts and see if they help you to resolve this or not.

Potential Malware infection issues to review to get MBAM running

If so then please update and run MBAM and do a Quick Scan.

Update and Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Vista users must Right click and choose RunAs Admin)
  • Please DO NOT run MBAM in Safe Mode unless requested to, you MUST run it in normal Windows mode.
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Select the Update tab
    • Click Update
  • When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab
  • Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
Then post back the MBAM log and a new Hijackthis log.

Then run DDS
Download DDS and save it to your desktop
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

Disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.
Then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, the DDS.txt will open.
Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
thanks for the info, I ran avg root kit and found 12 items...I was sketchy on deleting them as the last time i did a few months back my computer woulnd just restart over and over just before the admin logon box would pop up. so i bravely clicked the delete button on avg. system restarted still had the win anitvirus crap popping up however the programs i intalled worked now. I scanned deleted what was found with malwarebytes everything is good so far. No pop ups no creepy music randomly playing on the background. Thanks!

Up to you but I would suggest posting the latest MB and DDS logs so that we can review for you.
