MBAM v1.37 installs fine, and scans fine. But when I enter the key and ID, then as soon as I click on 'Enable Protection', I get this error:

[Create Service] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 1073

I attached a screen shot below.

If I try to enable it a second time, I get the same error agin, but also a message that says the protection module is already running, but I look through the task manager and MBAM is not listed....

HELP!

Please run the following procedures and see if that corrects it.

[indent]Basic procedures to correct issues often due to other Security Software
If these procedures do not correct the problem please create a new post seeking further assistance
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
  • Restart your computer (very important).
  • Download and run this utility.
  • It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
  • After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here
Note: If you're using a PAID version of Malwareybtes, you will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail.
BEFORE registering and starting the Protection Module, locate the Exclusion List for your Anti-Virus. Probably under an advanced menu in the program.
Add the following folders, sub-folders if you can, at a minimum add the files to the exclusion to be safe.

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

Thanks for the info... I'll give it a go and hopefully it will work! There seems to be a lot of 1073 with the 1.37 release... here's at least 2 others:

Yes, because in general the Anti-Virus is doing its job to prevent "unknown" drivers and rootkit like activity from happening. Since our new version is not known or trusted by current Anti-Virus it tries to block it. So far this fix has worked well for most users.
