Hello,
I was having ZoneAlarm quarantining Trojan-Clicker.Win32.Delf.cbe every time IE was opened. I ran MBAM last night and it didn't stop. I ran it again this morning and it hasn't re-appeared. I'd like to be certain. Please check. Thank you.

Hi,

The reason why you didn't get a reply sooner is because you bumped your thread.
The helpers always look at logs with 0 replies. If they see there's a reply present, then we assume that you are already receiving help, so the thread gets skipped.

Anyway, I see you are running Teatimer.
I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system.
When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.
How to disable TeaTimer <== click me for instructions.

After you disabled Teatimer, download ResetTeaTimer.exe to your desktop.
Then run ResetTeaTimer.exe.
This will only take a few seconds.

Then, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion is outdated.

  • Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  • In case you can't update the database via the update option, please download and install the database from here. Only do this when the update option doesn't work.
  • Once the updates are downloaded, perform a full scan again.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Also; The current formatting of your log makes it difficult to read, so in notepad:
On top, click Format >uncheck Word Wrap

Thanks for the assistance!

I did as instructed. After scanning, MBAM needed to restart to delete files on reboot, however the machine is now hanging on reboot. ZoneAlarm is constantly popping up quaratine alerts. The machine will not boot past this. (I'm posting from a different machine.) I have not done anything yet, I am letting the machine try to boot.

Hi,

Bah, Zonealarm is interfering with Malwarebytes removal and locks everything out... This is not the first time this has happened. That's actually one of the reasons why I don't really recommend zonealarm anyway, this because it causes a lot of problems, even on clean machines and causes machines unbootable. Anyway, this may happen with others as well, but I've seen it too much with zonealarm unfortunately.
Can you boot to Windows safe mode please? From there, temporary uninstall Zonealarm and then reboot back to normal mode. You'll notice, once zonealarm is uninstalled that your Windows will boot a lot faster afterwards as well, because zonealarm always causes a bootdelay.

Then, when back in normal mode, after you have removed/uninstalled Zonealarm, rescan with malwarebytes and post the log in your next reply.

Hi,

Can you run MalwareBytes once again and post the new log together with a HijackThislog? This because it *should come up as clean now....

Hi,

Please uninstall Ewido, because this version is way outdated. It has become a part of AVG now.
Reboot.
After reboot, * Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.

Hi,

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

Registry::

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply.

Hi,

This looks OK again.

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

Shall I run MBAM again to see if it comes up clean? I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and that was the primary source of infection indication before I got MBAM.

When I uninstalled ComboFix, it indicated a rootkit. After the uninstall there was a Windows file error ('Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\CF5773.exe') but thats the ComboFix file right?

Anyway, I ran a MBAM Quick Scan (the last full scan took 8 hours!) and it found and deleted one thing. The log is below:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.37

Hi,

Can you reboot and rescan once again with MalwareBytes?

Also, since Combofix indicated a rootkit during the uninstall, I suggest you redownload Combofix again, because it looks like something slipped in in between...
Also post the Combofix log in your next reply, because I want to be sure here.

A new MBAM quick scan came up clean. I will re-install ComboFix now and run that again. One question though, when I uninstalled ComboFix before, should it have deleted itself from my desktop or should I send that to the recycling bin and start with a freshly downloaded copy?

Yes, it should. If still present on your desktop, then there's no need to redownload it again, but just doubleclick the icon to run it again. ;)
