Hi. First off, thanks in advance for the help. I seem to keep getting pop ups on my work computer, and MBAM is not detecting them.

Hi,


First of all, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion is outdated.

• Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  
• In case you can't update the database via the update option, please download and install the database from here. Only do this when the update option doesn't work.
  
• Once the updates are downloaded, perform a full scan again.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

strange, when i click check for updates, it says updated from 2262 to 2262. what is the most recent database version?

It's dbversion=2287 now.
Any possibility that your monster1.com domain blocks the updates? Because I have seen some domains doing this, or interfering with it..
Ofcourse malware may interfere here as well, but it shouldnt give you that message then.

If you still can't update, do next instead..

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.

thanks for all the help thus far, miekiemoes. it seems setup.exe keeps getting downloaded into my temp folder. I was able to update malwarebytes to 2297. Here are my logs:

Hi,

Do you still get the SpywareProtect 2009 popups? Do you get it when you visit a certain site? Or when you visit different sites, so the popups come all the time? The reason I am asking is because some sites DO contain ads that may cause these popups, for example imageshack.
In case you get the popups all the time, also via different sites, run Combofix and post the log here...

I'm not sure what sites spyprotect 2009 is embedded into, but I haven't really visited any questionable sites lately. ive gotten the popups when i have nothing open except for gmail, amazon, and imeem. i haven't gotten any popups lately, but i will report back if i do. thanks for all the help.

You would get them all the time though if you're still affected.
Just give it a day or two and report back in this thread if you're still getting them. Normally you should get them every 5-10 minutes or so.
