I usually update malwarebytes everday, and today was no exception but when I looked it updated from 2346 to 2346 exactly the same and then I noticed that the current database is showing 6/28/2009 - So the last time it was actually updated was 28th June which was 6 days ago. What I want to know is have I got the latest signatures from malwarebytes or do I seem to have a problem with the updates. Not sure how often I should be getting new updates, I would of thought that if I already had signature 2346, malwarebytes would recognise it and not re-download it if you see what I mean.

My DB is currently at 2371, but I just updated it. Usually MBAM updates 1-3 times a day, although that does vary on occasion. As far as the looping update (you've got 2346 installed and it downloads 2346 instead of saying "you have the latest update") that's simply an issue with the database server and generally gets fixed as soon as a new DB is released, which as stated earlier, happens quite frequently.

I have super antispyware installed as well and that is also showing last updated 28th june despite updating everyday. I also have Norton 360 v3 installed but that shows up to date but I have tamper protection enabled so maybe that is why. Or maybe it is my firewall as I noticed certain programs and processes are trying to access norton tamper protection regularly, the two most common being malwarebytes and super antispyware. This may be perfectly normal activity, I'm not sure, could Norton firewall suddenly have decided to automatically block updates from these programs?

as a side note
files you need your AV/Firewall for mbam to trust, just to browse over since you are not having a problem downloading updates from Malwarebyte's.....

I have downloaded the offline signatures and successfully updated. The offline update signature was dated 29th one day after the last time I was able to update successfully. It is now showing database version 2353 I will try updating from the malwarebytes program tomorrow to see if it now lets me update. If someone could post what their current database version or point me to where I can get info on the latest database version so I know I have the lastest version I would be grateful.

The offline database version will rarely match daily current versions. This is meant to be a back up. If you have another machine that does have the latest updates you can grab the rules.ref file and install it on machine which is not most current.

XP location of rules.ref:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

Vista location of rules.ref:
C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

Well I'm still getting this problem the database wont change. It appears no one else is experiencing this problem. What I want to know is if it is a good idea to uninstall the program then try re-installing. There is obviously a problem here.

That won't hurt and if no one else is experiencing this currently then there is an issue with your machine directly.

When this error occurs it pretty much happens to everyone.

just a side note: If your going to remove the program, do it by the book below, (I'm sure you remember)


1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
2. Restart your computer (very important).
3. Download and run this utility. http://www.malwareby.../mbam-clean.exe
4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. http://www.malwareby...am-download.php
Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent
Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again

Good to know as it is doing it again with V1.40 updating from 2702 to 2702.
