If you renamed it to Combo-Fix.exe, then try running it from the run command

Go to Start ---> Run ---> Type "%userprofile%\Desktop\Combo-Fix.exe" /killall followed by the Enter key.

However, if Combofix still doesn't work Try booting into safe Mode.

Reboot your computer in SAFE MODE" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup [but before the Windows icon appears] press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Let me know

WE should be able to fix it, but if you want to spend the money its up to you.

When i start in safe mode and try to run combo-fix it fails and says that its not safe to run because the file was compromised, and then it prompts me to download a fresh copy from bleepingcomputer.com/how-to-use-combofix.... I tried combo-fix using all 3 links. no luck

devalonski,

You have a nasty file-infector infection. My recommendation is to do a re-install of Windows XP. If that's not feasible please let me know. thanks

Its for users that don't have a recovery disc or XP disc. Otherwise, its a re-format issue.
