Howdy,

I saw a bunch of old posts stating that certain features of MWB don't work in safe mode that do work in normal mode. I'm just looking to see if that's still the case. We have people who run MWB in regular mode and it takes 2-3 hours where in safe mode it takes 20 minutes. How much functionality are we losing by running in safe mode to save the time versus normal mode to be more thorough?

Greetings and welcome to the forum Kelemvor .

The drivers don't load in safe mode which really hinders MBAM's capabilities. If possible I and others always recommend running it in normal mode. If the scans are taking so long though, I'm guessing you're also using the Full Scan option. This is seldom required as it generally won't detect anything that the Quick Scan doesn't pick up except perhaps minor traces that are harmless (and even that is rare and I've never seen it do so myself).

If you need anything else please let us know.

Yes, we were doing the Full Scan... Assuming that anything full is better than anything quick...

But if there's really no difference, I guess we'll start trying the quick scan.

Full scan can pick up infections saved in restore points and quarantine and infectors archived, altho it's better to use an antivirus for the latter.

So it's useful from time to time, but hardly routine.

Hello, I joined the forums to find out if scanning with MBAM in normal mode is still better than in safe mode. Thankfully Kelemvor did the job for me. And I found out quick scan does the job fairly well, to boot. I'll do that right now. Saves lots of time. Thank you for a great service.
