Hello,

Firstly I want to say thank you to MalwareBytes for the great support providing in the removal of a nearly comatized PC! I really appreciate it.

I would just like a little clarification and guidance please on a matter regarding virus removal softwares:

1) Am I right in understanding that I have to run MalwareBytes so that any infections can be picked up? (as in that it will not run automatically?)
2) Should I also have software like Norton or McAfee on my PC which does automatic checks and generally gets stuff before it infects the PC?

I'm just a little confused!

Many thanks...again! - You guys deserved to be recognised - i've been telling everyone!

Kind regardsa
Sapna

1) Assuming you have the FREE version of MBAM, it is an ON-DEMAND scanner/remove ONLY... it runs only when you tell it to... it does not offer continual ("real-time") protection.
[in contrast, the PAID version of MBAM does offer you the option for continual / "real-time" protection].

2) MBAM searches for "malware" ; whereas Norton/McAfee protect against "viruses" [Note: If you have a Norton / McAfee SUITE, it may also offer you protection against malware]. While there may be some overlap here, for the most part, these products (anti-malware, anti-virus) COMPLEMENT each other... so yes, be sure to run a real-time anti-virus program (such as Norton or McAfee) in addition to an anti-malware program (like MBAM)
