Hoping someone here can help.
I've deducted that I have this "Troj/Rustok-N" on my PC and it's really messing things up..
I've been at it all last night and today trying to hunt this thing down manually in my computer. and trying different software.

HijackThis: downloaded/installed but will not start
SpywareDoctor: downloaded/installed/starts but will not perform initial update
Combofix: downloaded but will not install
Malwarebytes' Antimalware: downloaded/installed but will not start

i couldn't even visit this website as it said "Page cannot be displayed"
i finally got access using a proxy site (sorry if this is against your rules but it was my only means of getting help)

the only things i know about this virus/trojan/malware or whatever it is .. is solely from the research i've done this morning.. and still seems very confusing
is it real? is it fake? well it doesn't seem very fake to me when it prevents me from going to certain websites and evidently is preventing programs from opening up.
i even tried to restore my system to a point before i had issues with this.. and it blocks me from restoring. (i click next on the restore confirmation page) and nothing happens.

i'm running:

WinXP Pro SP3
