Recently my pc froze up and something installed it self. I wasn't downloading anything. What happens is that you go to search something on google and it takes a long time to load the search results. When you click on a link in the search results you get redirected to another site.

I have MBAM installed but it wont run. I can run the installer but once it gets to the launch and update part nothing happens.

I have also tried installing Hijack this but the installer wont run either.

I have tried renaming the files but they still wont run.

I really need help here and I hope someone can help me.

Hi,

First please take a look and see if any of these posts help you to get MBAM running or not.

Potential Malware infection issues to review to get MBAM running

• MBAM wont install or will not run. - CLB Rootkit driver=TDSS/Seneka/GAOPDX/UAC
  
• MBAM wont install or will not run. - SystemSecurity
  
• MB won't run(Fix) - Total-Security (FakeAlert)
  
• MBAM wont run (Fix) - av360 (Fakealert)

If none of above apply in your case, then try if Malwarebytes works when you rename mbam.exe. This is the file located in the Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder. So rename mbam.exe to blah.exe (or so).
Also try to run Mbam from Windows Safe mode.

I got Malware Bytes to run after renaming it to winlogon.exe and it found about 15 infected files. I thought I was good but I cant seem to get it to run again. So I cant post the log yet.

But I got Hijack this running, which I couldnt get working before. So MBAM must have done something good.

Here is the Hijack This log.

I will continue trying to get MBAM working again, the above solutions helped a lot.

Hi,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://google.mini20.com <== check this if you set it
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: karna.dat

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Then, I see you have ewido running. This piece of software is way outdated and not supported anymore, so please uninstall it.
Then, since you really need an Antivirus, * Please install Avira Antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/

Perform a full scan with Avira and let it delete everything it is finding.
Then reboot.
After reboot, open your Avira and select "reports".
There doubleclick the report from the Full scan you have done. Click the "Report File" button and copy and paste this report in your next reply.

Also post the log from Malwarebytes, because I want to see with what exactly you were dealing previously.
