Suddenly today I get an error at startup and it says "MBAM Service Terminated Abnormally" and I can't get the active protection to run?
It was fine up till today when I got home from work?

Hi, I got it to start but had to use the Windows Management function for Services and start it from there manually?

Your version/edition of Windows is? : Win 2000, XP or Vista ? or ??
Kindly also tell me which antivirus app this has, and if any 3rd party firewall is used?
See what Event Viewer has in it's log that mentions MBAM.
Select Start button/ select Run , then type in
-- or Go to Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.
Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings.

Then also, logoff and Restart the system fresh. Do you still have the same issue?

check in Event Viewer for any other error messages that occurred
at or nearly at the same time as this one. Right-click on My
Computer and select Manage. Click on the + to expand the Event Viewer
category to show the 3 or 4 subcategories. Browse through the System
and Application categories and check out any entries there with date
and time stamps that correspond to your error.

Windows XP all up to date on SPs and I'm running AVG for an antivirus.
This just started today and all that's been updated are Definition updates and I've install no new software.

I had restarted twice after getting the error tonight for the first time and got the same error but just restarted again and it's fine now.
I'll repost if it starts again

OK. If it happens again, I highly encourage you looking at Event Viewer logs.
I would suggest you run a Quick scan with MBAM and see what the results show.
