Hi paulnhbtx,

1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add or Remove programs in the Control Panel.
2. Restart your computer (very important).
3. Download and run this utility.
4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here.

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail if you purchased it.

See if it runs now.

Hi Screen,

I am sorry for complaining.

I tried the steps you told me I restarted twice and I am getting the same run-time error..

I am not sure what is going on.

Thank You

Hi paulnhbtx,

Please download and install the Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Common Controls from Microsoft.

After that finishes, restart your computer and try running MBAM.

Not yet.

Please download Dial-A-Fix from here.

Save it to your Desktop.

Open Dial-a-fix.exe

Click the green checkmark at the bottom of the window; this should select all options.

Now, click GO.

Allow it to run (the status will be displayed at the bottom), and follow any prompts you receive.

Let me know if that fixed it.

I got this error: "error 127 C:\windows\system32\iesetup.dll; My version, iesetup.dll 8.00.6001.18702. is there a fix for this? these occur when running dial-a-fix. other fixes needed, imgutil.dll; inseng.dll; mshtml.dll; msrating.dll; occache.dll; pngfilt.dll; shdocvw.dll; webcheck.dll:"

After it finished doing its scan I tried to run malwarebytes and I am still getting the same error.

Insert your Windows CD.

Navigate to Start --> Run, and enter the following command exactly as shown:

sfc /scannow
(note the space between the c and the)

Allow it to run (it may take a while). When it finishes, restart your computer and see if the same errors persist.

You'll need to get your hands on a CD with Service Pack 3 (either Home or Pro depending on which you have), so you can run the sfc /scannow command to recover your missing system files.
