So AVCare made its way onto my computer. Right now, I still cannot run MWB or Spybot. It tells me that "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

I'm not sure about any other programs that have this problem.

I restarted my computer for an unrelated reason, but now, Windows locks up at the "Welcome" screen (after the Windows XP splash screen, before the login screen). I started my computer in safe mode, and it appears that there is now an "Administrator" account. I don't think that this was there before. I tried clicking on it and logging in as the administrator, but I did not know the password. I tried "admin" and a blank password. Neither worked.

Can someone help me before I take this thing to the shop?

Hi,

* Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.
