I have 2 drives at work that are infected w/ Advanced Virus Remover. It has taken over almost every function. There is very little software it will allow to run. I can't even print from those drives. I removed the first drive from the case and added it on as a slave drive using a usb external housing.
I have purchased a license for Malware. The website said it would scan multiple drives. Now, how do I scan a drive other than the C: drive?
I apologize if this has been posted before. I've been working on this most of the day, it is now almost midnight and I have to get that computer up and running in 9 hours. I don't have the time to go through every posting. I read 3 pages of titles and saw nothing about scanning a drive other than the primary drive. So I decided to post my question using my dilemma as the title.....hope it helps someone else.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I'm going to try to sleep so I can get up at 5 and go back and fix this flippin' mess.

You can select FULL scan and it will give you a choice of which drives to scan and it will then scan all files and folders.
However, there is no guarantee that it will properly find and disable it due to it not being the live Windows environment where normal methods and locates are determined.
You should be able to also use a good Anti-Virus product that is up to date and do a full scan with it as well which might be better at finding stuff on a slaved drive.
Our product works best when it's ran in normal windows mode on the active drive.

Thanks for your reply. This is definitely not a virus.......I've run that and nothing came up. We have Norton Corporate Edition as the network is 20 computers and a server running MS Server 2003-may not be perfect but we've never had a problem in 4 years.
This bug is called "Advanced Virus Remover" and googling that gives a lot of data......definitely malware.
I'll try running it on the machine itself but it wouldn't let me run anything else, print anything, use the DVD/CD drive to install a file or copy files off the drive. Very frustrating day.....not much fun at all!!
Thanks again.....any more insight would be great.
Yesterday, I put a new drive in the box, installed XP, started installing programs we use, finally attached it to the domain, added John as the user (the user it was logged in as when the bug first appeared was Shell) and suddenly the black screen came up saying the malware program was running on the new hard drive. There is one other box w/ John as the user and it does not have the bug. There are 2 other machines running w/ Shell as the user and none of them have the bug. I can't find a common thread or link.
Thanks

Hello Duchesz,
Well first off if you don't have a Corporate License for these systems then you're in violation of the EULA which basically states that the program is free for use by home users only and not a business.
That said if you would like assistance cleaning the system then please create a NEW post in the HJT forum and someone will assist you in cleaning this system.
Once the system is cleaned you should then contact Sales about proper licensing. corporate@malwarebytes.org
If on the the other hand you do have a Corporate License already then please send an email to the same address and support will assist you with cleaning the system.
Thank you.
