Hi,

I am close to my wit's end after spending most of the day trying to get my laptop up and running.
I downloaded a key last night (lesson learned :P )and it appears that it is a virus (total security?)

I have followed the instructions here malwarebytes try malware and hjt
and neither will run with any success. malware runs for 8 seconds and then stops. I have tried renaming mbam but it still does the same. I cannot see what is causing it in process explorer.
When following these instructions Procedures to help resolve issues preventing MBAM from running I also fail to have any luck.
Rootrepeal advises the following message when scanning the files on my c drive
"unrecognized partition type 6 (0x6)! "

I do have access to a clean laptop (in short intervals) which should help me read messages and download fixes if there are any.

I am at a loss at what to do next as I feel like I have tried everything but got nowhere. Any help that you give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
Arthur

Welcome to the forum Arthur

See if you can run this tool.
DDS:

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • post dds.txt and attach the other.

Unfortunately it won't let me run DDS. I downloaded onto a memory stick from another pc, moved it onto my desktop, then tried to run it. I get a very brief MS-dos type black screen as if it is trying to open, but then it shuts immediately.
