Hi all. I have a HP Compaq nx 7400 and I have been infected with something very nasty. It will let me run Hijack this or any malware remover - Spybot, Spysweeper won't update & I have even gotten that shutdown error box (for some reason I got past that now) - nothing works at all. I have tried root repeal and all it shows is this:
hiberfil.sys - Locked to windows in c:\1386\
Then while it's scanning, the program shuts down.
Here are the details on my machine:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600) Hewlett-Packard
HP Compaq nx7400 (EZ113AT#ABA) F.06
Enclosure Type: Notebook
*Processor ^a * *Main Circuit Board ^b *
1.85 gigahertz Intel Core Duo
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache Board: Hewlett-Packard 30A2 KBC
Version 40.15
Bus Clock: 166 megahertz
BIOS: Hewlett-Packard 68YGU Ver. F.06 06/06/2006
*Drives* *Memory Modules ^c,d *
80.02 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
40.65 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space
Is there any thing I can do to get this thing off my machine? I mean, it's locked me out of everything...all this malware programs do it start and quit and then exe's are totally useless. Webroot won't update and when I tried it, it tells me the installation has been damaged and to reinstall Spysweeper. The Symantec scan shows a clean machine.
Thanks in advance for your help.
