Thanks to the help from this forum, I was able to clean my pc of malware. However, now I find that my search function is not working properly. The drives searched are in random order and are searched repeatedly.
If anyone could help me fix this, I would much appreciate it.

So going to Start then Search and you type something in the "All or part of the Filename" and its not working? Try & do a search for something you know is where its supposed to be example: mbam.exe or mbamgui.exe or a few of your own...Make sure the search is in the right area, that the scrollbar is set to Look in "C" drive or Program files. Even put a test.txt file in C:\Temp. and search for that....and so on.. post back please & let us know....

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

I am sorry yardbird, I misstated the title of my post, but could not edit it :-(.
I go to start>search>"filexyz".....(parameter given are all the harddrives, starting with "C")
It will find "filexyz" on D drive, on Q drive and on F drive, then again on D and Q and F....it never stops...it seems to be in a loop, finding the same files over and over, but not in the order of the drives given (i.e. C,D,E,F). The filexyz found are the correct files I was looking for.
So, it actually works, but does not quit working and does not give me the results in the correct alpahbetical harddisk order.

Your post from when you were in the HJK forum is still open, If you want to add to it:
thats one idea... Or just leave the post here and bump it up every day? I'm at a loss on the Search Bar issue. I seldom use it myself.... something to think about. Let us know if you get it fixed, or post the your top post in the General Forum...
EDIT: Go back to your HJK Thread you have a trace of malware leftover.
