In my area you have to due to Tornadoes that touch down from time to time....

Being a former meteorologist (forecasting & observing) in the Air Force, I take all Weather Warnings seriously... Watches are one thing, but Warnings mean the weather scenario is either happening right now or it's imminent. I would not take Weather Warnings lightly, even if what they forecasted does not happen at all. They had good reasoning and justification for putting them out and it's only for your safety.

@ Bob... no I am not in tornado alley, but we do get them here from time to time... the last one that touched down and made major damage was maybe 3 years ago.
