hi. im new to this forum. i have had MBAM for over a year, off and on. i have never had a problem with it in the past, but now i am getting an error when i try to run it.

the following message poops up:

"An error occurred. Please report the folooowing error to the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware support forum.

Error code: 703 (0.7)

is this a corrupted program or a malware?

thanks for any help.

Hi socrates, and welcome to Malwarebytes

You may be being blocked by your Anti-Virus.

Please see if this post for fixes on common problems and error codes helps http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...c=10138
If not, please let us know

You can also try re-installing the program following these instructions
 • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
 • Restart your computer (very important).
 • Download and run this utility. MBAM-CLEAN.EXE
 • It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
 • After the computer restarts, Temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here.
Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent
Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again
ok, i re-installed the program and it runs ok. so, i guess that means its not blocked by my firewall. and i couldnt really find that folder you showed me how to get to.

for some reason this computer doesnt have everything in its regular spots. like, i go to my computer/documents and settings/all users.. then it only has 4 items (desktop, favs, shared documents, and start menu). no Applications data. i went through the start menu/programs/MBAM. and it didnt show anything about a log. so i have no idea why its like that. :/

but, it seems to be ok so far. i will let you know if i have any more problems with it.

thank you very much for all of your help.

@ socrates follow up:

There should be a folder in All Users called Application Data inside Application Data there should be
two more folders, Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware inside there should be Logs

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs

Are you using XP? and do you have the paid version or the free version?

Hi socrates

Please update your XP SP2 to SP3.

It's for your benefit & also it's free.

Sometimes that folder you want will be hidden.

If you don't know the procedure to view that folder, please follow the procedure given below:

(it's simple: open my comp./click tools/click folder options/click view tab/scroll & you will find an option, "Show Hidden Files & Folders", Check mark it & click OK).

After this follow yardbird's procedure from post #9. (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs).

The colour of the hidden files, which will be visible now, will be very pale yellow. Don't worry.

Best of luck.

Regards.

Show Hidden Files and Folders:
 • Click Start and select My Computer
 • Click the Tools item from the menu at the top of the window (if you don't see Tools press the Alt key on your keyboard and it will appear)
 • Select Folder Options
 • Click the View tab and make sure Show hidden files and folders is selected under Hidden files and folders
 • Next, uncheck the box next to Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
 • Then, uncheck the box next to Hide extensions for known filetypes
 • Click Apply then click OK

ok...though this will be the second re-install. but, ill try it again.

seems though, that after i have it for a while, aaand after running scans with it a few times, thats whe i start to have problems. i also have been getting run time errors, along with FF crashing a lot. dont know if that has anything to do with this program running properly.

thanks.

Do you recall the runtime error? Runtime error 0 and 440 automation error. MBAM has a fix for that. Please let us know... thanks...

whoa! this is weird.

i accidentally clicked on MB, instead of going into the control panel, and it came up. no error. and then i tried to scan the same file on my desktop and it worked! :)

i wonder why i got the error? and maybe i should have tried it again last time. :/

nah...usually it disappears too quick. just like when FF has a problem and has to quit.
