This may seem trivial but a friend of mine told me that in the Malwarebytes' settings if you uncheck the part where it says anonymously report statistics to Malwarebytes' threat center then that means your statistics will still be reported only you will not be anonymous. Is that true?

No. We do not track our users. We collect anonymous statistics, or none at all.

You may verify this with a packet analyzer such as Wireshark.

Here are the stats , it allows us to see what hits and how often .

The only 2 settings are "nothing is sent" and "what and how much is detected" .

There is no setting that collects anything personal .

Yea, and here are some of my favorites:

Trojan.I.Stole.Windows

Dont.Steal.Our.Software

Dont.Steal.Our.Software.A

Dont.Steal.Our.Software.S

Trojan.I.Stole.Windows cracks me up every time. It's my absolute favorite. It's 10 times more humorous when I see helpers on forums not realize what it means. :)

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

No idea. Never been there before.

The fax machine idea isn't half bad though. :)

Well, right now my Xerox is fine, but if it ever gets killed by lightening I'll give you a call. :)

I see each malware has his own statistics, including the number of instances detected worldwide. When a malware with multiple files, like a rogue, is detected, does this count for 1 instance or 30 instances if 30 files are flagged with that rogue's name ? Just curiosity. :)

By the way, the MalwareNet main page is not accessible from malwarebytes' homepage, only the 5 first ones.
