Hi,
A week ago or so, running a MBAM scan it found, quarantined and deleted a number of files successfully, after which I rebooted.
Since then, whenever I reboot I get a message in the notification area, which informs me that "Windows is blocking Programs(MBAM) from Starting".
I then have to click on MBAM icon in order for it to start up.
Is there a way I can get back to MBAM starting automatically and not manually as at present?
I have looked at System Configuration and in the General Tab,Normal Startup is ticked in checkbox. In the Start Up Tab,both MBAM program
check boxes are ticked.
O.S. Vista Home Premium SP2,Avast4.8 Pro,ZoneAlarm Pro,MBAM,SuperAntispyware and Spywareblaster.
Many thanks,
Brian67

Welcome to Malwarebytes! You can try a un-install, clean tool, and re-install, I suspect your ZoneAlarm may need to accept some Malwarebytes files to be trusted. Make sure the files in Bold letters are configured in your ZA.
For Windows Vista or Windows 7:
If you wish to remove, it as stated above in the 1st line... follow these instructions please, and post back with your results.
please try a clean tool below, remove the program and re-install again
1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
2. Restart your computer (very important).
3. Download and run this utility. http://www.malwareby.../mbam-clean.exe
4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. http://www.malwareby...am-download.php
Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent
Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray and run a Quick Scan.
For Windows Vista or Windows 7:
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
- C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
- C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
- C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
If you wish to remove, it as stated above in the 1st line... follow these instructions please, and post back with your results.

Hi Brian67,
If Yardbird's advice doesn't change things for you,
Please download GT500's startup fix here at post #20 and follow his instructions on how to run it.
Let us know how it goes.

Many thanks yardbird and Jacktivity for your splendid advice.
I'm pretty much an ignoramus with computers, especially Firewall settings! However, all Malwarebyte program settings within ZoneAlarm Pro are allowed.
Both Access/Server are ticked for Trusted and Internet and Trust Level is set to maximum (three green bars).
So I will attempt uninstall/reinstall as you suggest yardbird, but is the installation link in your reply applicable to both MBAM(Free) and paid(protection enabled)
versions? I have version 1.41 which unfortunately I forgot to mention in my earlier post. I won't attempt this until someone can answer this question for me,
sorry I seem a bit apprehensive about this but I have a lack of confidence with computers.
Again, many thanks and I hopefully await an answer to my question.

@Brian67,
Yes that link is just to clear out any registry keys that may linger after uninstalling MBAM to ensure a complete uninstall.

@ Brian67
As said above, after you remove the program & use the clean tool, Yes, you can re-install Paid or Free Version 1.41 after you follow steps 1 thru 4 above. Step 5 will take you to Cnet Download to get the program again...
Just remember You will need to reactivate the program using the email/license you were sent from cleverbridge! if you have the paid version.... with your ID & Key number, you will have to add that again! Both versions are the same Free or Paid
Please post back with your results... regards....

Thanks, yet again yardbird.
Uninstalled/reinstalled as per your instructions but the problem had not gone away!
However, a short time ago I was running CCleaner, went into Tools and clicked on Startup Programs. There were two MBAM programs listed, one of
which was Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Reboot)!
I have disabled this program and now on rebooting, I do not get the notification that Windows is blocking MBAM from running at Startup!!
I have one last question of you, is there any likely untoward effect of leaving this program disabled?
Cheers,
Brian67

Hi Brian,
This is the exact same fix that Jacktivity pointed you to here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=138516
You are running Windows Vista with the User Account Control enabled. That file that that GT500 posted in the link Jacktivity gave you removes that exact same entry. It is a minor bug in the program that has been fixed and will be released in the next version.
Thanks.

Thanks all for help gratefully received.
