Malwarebytes has been installed on this computer for a short time now, about 4 months or so. It has been running fine. Now, about 45 minutes into a full scan, malwarebytes closes and a message pops up saying "Malwarebytes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I have un-installed Malwarebytes and re-installed it. This did not resolve the problem. I have checked for updates. The quick-scan runs and does not find any issues. Norton 360 full scan does not find any issues. This computer has Windows Vista. The desktop here has the same Malwarbytes version and Windows XP. The desktop computer does not have this issue. Is this a problem with Vista? Does anyone know how I can correct this?

Thank you for your time and have a great day!

Please add the following files to the exclusions list in your anti-virus:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

HOTELLJACK, are you trying to say that you are having the same issue?

I have the same problem with MBAM stopping about 8-12 minutes into the full scan with Norton 360 3.0 although it used to work properly with 360 2.0. I now have MBAM 1.41 & have reinstalled 3-4 times. (I can't be sure if it ever has or has not worked right with 3.0) Same message from Windows Vista that a problem has caused MBAM to stop working correctly, it will be stopped & Windows will let me know if there is a solution. It happens at the same point in Norton 360 3.0's QBackup each time. I have entered the exact line in Norton 360's scan exclusion list and I have entered the 5 entries suggested by GT500 in Norton 360's exclusion list but none of them worked--the scan still hangs at the same item shown here:
C:\PROGRAMDATA\NORTON\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\NORTON\QBACKUP\{716CB19F-7E1C-4762-B99F-ED63644ED73D}\{FD2B1BAD-522F-43BB-9C3B-6AF626092291}.qbi Anyone else having this problem? Any workable solutions yet?

MBAM works correctly with my XP laptop. Is the problem with Norton 360 or Vista?

Thanks for any help.

This is probably Norton's file protection preventing access. Try disabling Norton during the scan, and see if it helps.

Amanda, I had the exact problem, And then realized I had made a change that may have caused the the problem you described with Malware. A few days prior to running Malware I had renewed my subscription to Norton 360 and upgraded as well. Malware gave me the clue, when it stopped runing and gave me the window error, the last line that was being scanned was a referance to Norton.

The Fix: Now when I run Malware I make sure there are no open programs and I completely disable Norton. When Malware is thru I then enable Norton. My Malware program now works as before. Take a look at the line that was being scanned when Malware stopped working for a clue. If it referances a program it may be a place to start for a solution to your problem. I enclose as an attachment my screen when malware stopped working. Let me know if this was any help. It worked for me. Good Luck. Tom in Gilbert, Arizona

If you can setup file exclusions properly in Norton 360 though then it should not interfere. Setting the correct ones might not be easy though if Norton doesn't allow you access to such exclusions.
